Silent Retreat : Usambara Mountains
We will spend our time at Irente Farm Biodiversity Reserve in silence amongst nature, and practicing meditation together by the fireplace on cool nights. The meditation techniques that will be shared are rooted in Buddhism, Taoism, Native American traditions, and the latest neuroscience research.

Getting Here: Irente Farm Lodge and Biodiversity Reserve, Lushoto Village, Lushoto, Tanzania
The best option is to fly from Zanzibar or Dar Es Salaam to Tanga and take taxi 2.5 hours to Irente Farm in Lushoto.
We can assist in insuring the best rate for airfare with Auric Air and arranging taxis from Tanga to Irente Farm.
What To Bring: -Attire- Irente Farm is located 500m above sea level, so the temperature will be much cooler than you may be used to. Please bring a warm sweater, light jacket, hat, long pants, and shoes. The days can sometimes get quite warm so you may also want to bring lighter wear and sandals. -Please bring any medications you may need. There is a pharmacy in Lushoto, however, their supply of medicines may be limited. -Mosquito Repellant- From our experience there are not that many, however, please be prepared as we will spend lots of time in the forest:) -Journal- You may feel inspired to spend time writing on the last day of the retreat, as there are often great insights gained after maintaining silence and practicing meditation. -Optional: We suggest you bring a yoga mat if you would like to practice yoga or to use for sitting/lying down outside. Please share your updated travel plans, and we will assist you in finding the best price and sharing taxis with other participants to cut travel costs. We look forward to answering any questions you may have and receiving your travel plans. Have a beautiful day!
